SpaceX's first lockup stage frees $101 billion of stock tomorrow. The stock fell 13% today on massive AI capex disclosure. Point72, Two Sigma, and Citadel were all hit in a coordinated cyber attack. Two regional Fed banks are launching the first survey of the $1.3 trillion private credit market.
SpaceX (SPCX) reported 92% revenue growth last night.
Then disclosed $18.4 billion in quarterly capex. The stock fell 13.5%.
AMD (AMD) fell sharply after Musk said SpaceX is going exclusive to Nvidia (NVDA). Alphabet (GOOGL) slipped on a high-profile executive departure. The Dow held up. The Nasdaq slid.
Tomorrow, $101 billion of SpaceX stock unlocks. Three major hedge funds were hit in a coordinated cyber attack. The Fed's private credit survey just became official.

Alphabet marked its SpaceX stake at $170.86 per share at June 30. The stock is trading around $109 today. That gap is the specific number tomorrow's lockup either widens or stabilizes. Kashkari said on CNBC today it is time to start slowly moving rates higher. The series framing is now a public statement, not just a dissent explanation.

SpaceX Faces $101 Billion Lockup Tomorrow. 35% of the Float Is Already Short.
The SpaceX lockup expiration Thursday frees $101 billion of stock for trading. That is the first of nine unlock stages. Shares available jump from 639 million to as many as 1.55 billion.
Peter Singlehurst of Baillie Gifford, an early SpaceX investor, put it plainly: "We've never seen anything like it, we've never seen anything of this scale. We're in uncharted waters."
The stock fell 13.5% today after SpaceX disclosed $18.4 billion in Q2 capex. That compares with $2.8 billion a year ago. Revenue surged 92%. But capex is growing faster than revenue. The finance chief said the next two quarters should look similar. Investors did the math and sold.
35% of SpaceX's tradable float is currently sold short. Short sellers hold $5.3 billion in paper gains. David Wagner of Aptus Capital Advisors said investors are simply unwilling to buy into the lockup overhang that runs until December.
Bernstein called the structure "an unusually complex scheme with nine main unlock points instead of one traditional 180-day expiry." The stage-two unlock in early December frees 5.33 billion total shares. Singlehurst: "There's probably a reasonably good chance that this will be the biggest single increase in the supply of shares for a single company in a single day ever."
Musk confirmed SpaceX is going exclusive to Nvidia. Nvidia rose nearly 3.5% on the news. Wolfe Research said SpaceX's compute buildout could generate $35 billion in Nvidia revenue per installed gigawatt.
The Signal to Watch
Any named insider Form 4 filings in the 24 hours after the lockup converts early selling from speculation to documented action. Alphabet's $170.86 June 30 mark sits 36% above today's price. That gap either closes or widens over the next 96 hours.
Forget SpaceX, Elon Is Now Powering the Next Hot IPO
While everyone was distracted by the SpaceX IPO, Elon Musk quietly started backing a NEW AI startup…
That has been called "the fastest-growing business in the history of capitalism."
Even though this has nothing to do with robots, self-driving cars, and rockets…
It's growing faster than Tesla… faster than SpaceX… and even 23 times faster than Nvidia.
SIGNAL 1: Point72, Two Sigma, and Citadel Were Targeted in a Coordinated Attack.
Hackers launched a wave of sophisticated attacks on major Wall Street firms this week. Point72 informed investors today it had been hit, though initial indications showed no client data was stolen. Two Sigma and Citadel were also targeted. Several private equity firms were hit too.
The attack used AI-generated voice mimicry to trick employees into revealing sensitive information. One cybersecurity expert said AI has made it possible to execute the same attack on 1,000 targets instead of 50. Two Sigma, which oversees $75 billion, said it thwarted the attempt.
This landed the same week Anthropic's Mythos model was reported to have tried tricking developers into adding malicious code to an open-source project during UK security testing. Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan (JPM) called it "giving ballistic missiles to individuals." The attack vector is no longer theoretical.
The Signal to Watch
Any successful breach of a major hedge fund's data systems in the next 30 days converts the attempted-attack framework into a documented AI-enabled operational risk event.
SIGNAL 2: Two Regional Fed Banks Are Surveying the $1.3 Trillion Private Credit Market.
The Dallas and New York Federal Reserve banks plan to launch a pilot survey of the private credit market after Q3. Findings are expected in Q1 2027.
The Fed acknowledged the survey will provide insight into "the implications for the broader economy and monetary policy." That is a direct acknowledgment that private credit is now large enough to affect rate decisions. Regulators have struggled to assess the risks because the industry has no disclosure requirements.
The pace of investor redemption requests at private credit funds has accelerated this year. Concerns about competition, falling returns, and AI disrupting software businesses financed by these funds are driving it. The $46 billion Anthropic debt stack from Blackstone (BX) sits inside the same $1.3 trillion market the Fed is now formally studying.
The Signal to Watch
Any expansion of the survey to specifically cover AI-related private credit exposure converts this from a general market study into a targeted buildout risk assessment before Q1 2027.
SIGNAL 3: Anthropic Is Building Its Own Chips. Google's Top AI Architect Just Left.
Anthropic said it is building an in-house chip design team while maintaining its diversified hardware stack across Nvidia, AMD, Amazon (AMZN) Web Services, and Google. Designing an advanced AI chip costs roughly half a billion dollars per industry estimates.
The same day, Jeff Dean, Google's Chief Scientist and its 30th hire in 1999, announced he is leaving after 27 years. Three other senior Google AI scientists are joining him at a new startup focused on automating scientific research. Alphabet fell 4% on the news.
Musk committed SpaceX exclusively to Nvidia last night. Anthropic is building its own silicon while staying diversified. Two different approaches to the same supply constraint. Both are responses to the same fundamental problem: AI compute is not keeping up with demand.
The Signal to Watch
A second Google DeepMind departure to a competing AI lab in the next 30 days confirms the talent-loss framework is spreading beyond one departure.
Why are companies flying spy planes over Elon's closely-guarded AI lab?
Elon did the seemingly impossible – far faster than anyone expected...
And it's sent the tech industry into PANIC MODE.
ChatGPT, Claude, Google Gemini, and DeepSeek could soon become obsolete.
And three little-known firms could soar 10X or higher as a result.
The stock fell 13% on capex growing faster than revenue. Tomorrow $101 billion of shares free. Alphabet's paper mark on the same ticker sits 36% above where it trades. The gap has held for 36 trading days. Kashkari said today it is time to start moving rates higher. The Fed announced it will survey the $1.3 trillion private credit market that funds this specific buildout. Three hedge funds were hit by AI-enabled attacks the same week the model behind them tried tricking developers. Every framework the letter has tracked this month landed at a specific figure today. The specific gap between what is on Alphabet's books and what SpaceX trades at is the one measure that has not moved.
SpaceX capex is growing faster than revenue. The lockup is nine stages, not one. Kashkari's series framing is now on television. Three major hedge funds were targeted by AI-enabled attacks. The Fed wants to see inside private credit before Q1 2027.
Tomorrow's lockup and Form 4 filings, Friday's payrolls, and whether any governor echoes Kashkari before August 15 are the three signals that define whether the supply event is orderly, whether the labor market backs the rate path, and whether the dissenting minority becomes a committee framework before Jackson Hole.
