IN FOCUS The Fed Held While Describing a Strong Economy. After the Decision, Five-Year Yields Fell and 30-Year Yields Rose.Chair Kevin Warsh described an economy that hardly needs help. He said consumer spending was likely growing above 3% last quarter. Inflation has run above the Fed's goal for close to six years, he said. Financial conditions are tighter, but he is "unwilling and unable to call them tight." The committee held anyway. The statement dropped September's line about a "timelier" return to 2%. It now says more information will guide policy. Warsh made no commitment on December either way. Bonds split after the statement. Yields fell where the next few decisions matter most and rose where long-run inflation risk sits. The 30-year mortgage rate in a weekly industry survey was 7.37%. Oil was higher, and Iran headlines crossed during the press conference, so the long-end move can't be pinned on Warsh alone. This morning, PMD put Kalshi's December hike odds near 79%. After the decision, an average of Kalshi and Polymarket put them near 83%. The two are not the same measure. The Long End Carried the Risk the Fed Left Open One reading: a patient Fed lowers the near-term path, and long yields carry the inflation risk. Thursday's GDP and September PCE data will test the economy Warsh described.
FROM OUR PARTNERS Louis Navellier: My #1 AI stock for 2026 (name & ticker inside)
"I want to give you a free stock pick today. This company's sales are up 28% year over year. It holds over 30,000 patents in wireless and video technology. And it just earned an A-rating in my proprietary Stock Grader system. That's the same system that helped me flag Nvidia back in 2005 — before its 82,000% run. In fact, this system has identified the top-performing S&P 500 stock for 12 years running. Over the years, it has cost me $9 million to build and maintain. And right now, it's flashing its highest possible rating on this AI play." — Louis Navellier Click here to see which AI stock my $9 million system is flagging right now, free. SIGNALS IN MOTION SIGNAL 1: Two Buyers Proposed Cash for Public Companies Whose Shares Had Fallen. Neither Bid Is Binding.A Trian-led group proposed $7.35 a share in cash for Wendy's. Wendy's (WEN) closed up about 15%, at $7.07. Franchisee Flynn Group, BlueFive Capital and Sixth Street are in the group, which owns about 16% of Wendy's. It said the deal would need no new debt, and Wendy's existing securitization would stay. The price is 20% above Tuesday's close but below the $7.55 close on Aug. 11, before reports of a bid. Trian has a seat on Wendy's board. Monomoy Capital proposed $101 a share in cash for LCI Industries. LCI (LCII) is signed to merge with Patrick Industries (PATK) in an all-stock deal. That deal was worth about $116 a share at signing in June. At Wednesday's close, it was worth about $87, by our estimate. LCI's board still backs Patrick. WHAT RESOLVES THIS Trian expects a special committee of independent directors to review its plan. Wendy's reports Nov. 5. LCI and Patrick holders vote Nov. 18. A binding Monomoy offer could reshape that vote. SIGNAL 2: Triton Is Selling Trench to GE Vernova for About $9 Billion. Its Investors Likely Wait Until Late 2027.GE Vernova (GEV) agreed to buy Trench Group, a maker of high-voltage grid parts, from Triton's fifth fund. It will pay about $9 billion in cash and debt. It put the price at 13 times Trench's projected 2028 adjusted EBITDA, before synergies. The deal is expected to close in late 2027. GE Vernova also booked $29.3 billion of orders, up 96% organically. Its own electrification orders fell 9% organically. The stock fell as much as 6.6% and closed down about 1.9%. WHAT RESOLVES THIS GE Vernova has not detailed the debt behind Trench. It expects its backlog to pass $200 billion this quarter. SIGNAL 3: Strategy's Holders Approved Daily Dividends on Its Preferred. The Rates Don't Change. On Oct. 19, PMD flagged Wednesday's vote on daily STRC dividends. Strategy (MSTR) said holders approved the change, based on preliminary results. Its four preferred stocks will be able to pay for every calendar day, at unchanged rates, once filings take effect. STRC, its main tool for raising money to buy bitcoin, goes first, from Nov. 1. STRC closed at $99.92, just under its $100 par value. Strategy can sell new shares more easily at or above par. Management plans to keep recommending a 12% rate until STRC trades steadily near $100. Bitcoin was near $81,100 late Wednesday. WHAT RESOLVES THIS Strategy reports Thursday. STRC's price against $100 in the first weeks of daily payments will show if the change helps it hold par.

THE CROSSOVER Private Market Trends Driving Public Market MovesLong money got pricier on Wednesday. Buyers still paid for long cash flows. The 30-year yield rose after the Fed's hold. Wendy's rose about 15% on Trian's plan, and LCI about 9% on Monomoy's. Trian's group says it needs no new debt. Triton's fund gets paid when the GE Vernova deal closes, expected in late 2027. I Squared is paying for contracts that run for years. Strategy pays 12% on STRC to fund bitcoin. One reading: with long rates rising, buyers favor deals that bring their own cash or lock in long contracts. On the calendar...
